Breast reduction surgery in Prague
Breast reduction surgery procedure definition
Augmentation of the breasts by means of implants, is a very effective surgery, suitable for women with insufficiently developed breasts or when the mammary gland system is shedding and the skin is slightly loose, as may be the case after breast feeding or significant weight loss.
What is breast reduction
Breast reduction is a procedure designed to provide a more proportionate and "in balance" body shape. As well as correction to asymmetric and heavy pendulous breasts. All of which later on in life can cause severe back ache/spinal discomfort/curvature.
What breast reduction procedure contains
Breast reduction is classed as major surgery. Which depending on the extent of tissue to reshape, can take upwards of 3 hours to perform. Incisions are made around the nipple area, as well as in the Centre vertically below, and horizontally to the underside. In certain cases the lift and or reduction, can be performed using the "donut" or "concentric" technique. This involves one incision only around the areola-nipple area. However where the breast are quite large, the concentric does not work. Generally it is suitable for younger patients with average or undersized pendulous breast.
Is there any age limit for breast reduction?
The optimal age limit for breast reduction varies. It is generally done after the development of the mammary glands is completed, which is not before the age of eighteen. Regarding pregnancy, it is recommended that breast reduction surgery only be preformed when the woman does not plan any pregnancies because pregnancy and breast-feeding result in changes of volume, producing a negative effect on the results of the breast reduction surgery. The breast implants do not influence the pregnancy in any way and they will not expose the fetus to any danger. However, there is the risk that the patient will be unable to breast-feed normally due to insufficient lactation. It should be noted that a number of patients were able to breast-feed normally after a breast augmentation.
Choosing your Surgeon for breast reduction
Luckily in the Czech Republic patients do not run the risk of surgeon lottery selection.
By law your surgeon must be qualified in plastic surgery (or face prison). However some surgeons, more than others, are prepared to go that extra mile. Our 13 years unrivalled experience in this country enables us to chose wisely for you. In fact the best advertisement is our M.D. Libby Babbage, who underwent the procedure herself (see her photo's on our website)
Why to choose us?
Established 1996. Pioneered the original concept of overseas cosmetic surgery. We are often copied, but never emulated. Experience-100% track record, reputation, and the most "media sought after" for case studies.
Scarring concerns
Patients have to accept there is a "trade off" here. Yes of course there are scars, but after a year or two usually become almost invisible. As can be confirmed by our M.D. Libby. Most realistic patients accept the compromise required here. Especially bearing in mind they will regain perhaps a breast shape once possessed, but now long gone!! Obviously it would not suit everyone, say an aging glamour model for example. However most of our patients take the view..it's only my partner/husband who will see them anyway..so therefore, so - what!!
Breast reduction - aftercare
Patients stay overnight in the clinic and are usually released from the clinic the following morning. Before the patient leaves, the bandages are changed and the drains are removed. Rest is recommended for several days and the patient should avoid physical strain. The sutures are removed on the 5 to 7th days after surgery. At this time, the patient will be instructed on how to massage the breasts to prevent the formation of a fibrous capsule around the implants and to assist in the formation of the natural shape of the breast. The patient may resume routine activities after 7 to 10 days. One to two months after surgery, the breasts are considered to be stable. After a six-month period, regular check-ups at a mammary clinic are recommended.
Breast reduction - risks
When a breast reduction surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Still, individuals vary greatly in their anatomy, their physical reactions, and their healing abilities, and the outcome is never completely predictable. Complications that can occur include hematoma (a collection of blood under the skin that must be removed by the surgeon),sensation disturbances (usually temporary), infection, uneven contour, pigmentation changes and reactions to the anesthesia. Poor healing of the skin is most likely to affect smokers. You can reduce your risks by closely following advices mentioned above both before and after breast reduction surgery.
